Description: This thesis investigates both theoretical foundations of responses to climate change, and empirical evidence about individual responses from two case study communities on Canada's west coast. It aims to inform our understanding of adaptation to and mitigation of climate change with the perceptions of individuals. The goal is to answer the key question whether adaptation to climate change impacts and mitigation of future climate change through reduction of greenhouse gas emissions are linked.
