Ashley J. Bansgrove to Banda Aceh to work for Tsunami Emergency Support Project

Ashley J. Bansgrove, Senior Research Associates at CFGS, is going to Banda Aceh, Indonesia to work as an Ecological and Environmental Risk Assessment Specialist for the Spatial Planning & Environmental Management component of the Asian Development Bank funded Earthquake and Tsunami Emergency Support Project (ETESP). His first mission will start on the 24th of September and last 2 months, and the second mission will start after Christmas and last 2½ months.

The overall goal of the ETESP is to help rebuild the affected regions and support their economic revival to meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The immediate purpose of ETESP will be to provide Disaster Management Rehabilitation and Reconstruction support to: (i) facilitate economic revival in the affected regions, through restoration of livelihoods; (ii) restore essential public services and rebuild infrastructure, with the aim of alleviating constraints faced by the lack of adequate public goods and facilities. The component that Mr. Basgrove will be working on is focused on supporting sound spatial planning, and strengthening environmental management systems.
