WCRP - World Climate Research Program(français)The WCRP was established in 1979, following the First Global Climate Conference held in Geneva. It is a joint Research program of the WMO, ICSU and IOC. The WCRP addresses the dynamic and physical aspects of the earth system and thus complements the IGBP, which addresses primarily the biological/chemical aspects of the earth system. The aims of the WCRP are to determine to what extent climate can be predicted and the extent of human influence on climate. It has four major foci: the atmosphere, the oceans, the cryosphere and the land surface. Current WCRP projects:ACSYS, CLIVAR, GEWEX, SPARC, START and WOCE. The National Climate Research Committee (NCRC) of the Canadian Climate Program (CCP) acts as the Canadian National Committee for the WCRP.

PMRC - Programme mondial de recherche sur le climatLe PMRC, créé en 1991, est un programme de recherche conjoint de l'OMM, du CIUS et de la COI. Il porte sur les aspects dynamiques et physiques du système terrestre et complète ainsi le PIGB, qui s'attarde surtout à ses aspects biologiques et chimiques. Les objectifs du PMRC sont de déterminer jusqu'à quel point le climat peut être prévu et dans quelle mesure il subit l'influence des activités humaines. Il regroupe quatre grands thèmes : l'atmosphère, les océans, la cryosphère et la surface des terres. Projets actuels du PMRC : ACSYS, COASTS, SMOC, SMOO, GEWEX, CLIVAR, ISCCP, ISLSCP, SPARC, TOGA,WOCE Le Comité de recherche sur le climat du Programme climatologique canadien (PCC) joue le rôle de comité national du Canada pour le PMRC.
