CODATA - Committee on Data for Science and Technology(français)CODATA is an international organization formed by ICSU in 1966. It is concerned with all types of quantitative data resulting from experimental measurements or observations in the physical, biological, geological and astronomical sciences. The general objectives of CODATA are the improvement of the quality and accessibility of data, as well as the methods by which data are acquired, managed, and analyzed; the facilitation of international cooperation among those collecting, organizing, and using data; and the promotion of an increased awareness in the scientific and technical community of the importance of these activities. CODATA is part of a large international network of scientific organizations, with the ICSU at the helm. CODATA is involved in a large variety of studies including the collection of global change data.

Il a pour objectif général d'améliorer la qualité et l'accessibilité des données, de même que les méthodes permettant d'acquérir, de gérer et d'analyser ces données; de favoriser la coopération internationale entre ceux qui recueillent, organisent et utilisent les données; de promouvoir une plus grande sensibilisation de la communauté scientifique et technique à l'importance de ces activités. CODATA fait partie d'un vaste réseau international d'organismes scientifiques sous la gouverne du CIUS. CODATA participe à une grande variété d'études, notamment à la collecte de données sur le changement planétaire.
