Understanding global environmental change and developing effective responses has never been more important to maintaining and improving the quality of life for people in Canada and around the world. The CGCP has responded to the need to promote awareness of global change issues among educators and youth by developing an environmental education initiative on global change for teachers and students.
Education Initiative
As a part of the CGCP's education initiative, a publication titled Global Change and Canadians and an accompanying Teacher's Guide has been prepared. Another publication that teachers will find useful for its complementary and thorough background information on global change and Canadians will be available soon, Canada and the State of the Planet. Funding for the CGCP's education initiative is provided in part by the Richard Ivey Foundation as well as various federal government departments through the CGCP's core funding.
Related Documents
The CGCP has published several other expert panel reports and issue bulletins (Changes) which may also be useful in an educational setting. Topics include: health, water issues, greenhouse gas emissions, climate change, biodiversity, and long term ecological monitoring. These documents can be accessed from the Publications section of the site.
